Skill and luck, at least that's what Ron thinks. Dirt Bike Racer is about a kid named Ron who finds a mini bike at the bottom of a lake while scuba diving. He wants to replace all the parts, but he doesn't have any money. He gets a job working for Mr. Perkins. He finds out Mr. Perkins use to race. Ron finally makes it to a race, but wrecks. I think the theme of this book is sports. The author of this book is Matt Christopher and he always writes about sports. What inspired him to write books, was a piece, someone wrote in high school wrote. It inspired him because he wished he could write like that some day. Matt Christopher has written many books some of them are Peach Street, The Extreme Team, and Soccer Cats. A quote he has gone by is "Good judgment comes from experience, experience comes from bad judgment." I think the quote is good because when you do something bad you learn from it. I recommend this book because it's a good and exciting book.

2. This book is a really good book tide in with a really good sport. The book made me feel like I wanted a dirtbike. 1. The book starts off the boy gose scubadiving with his friend in a lake. The boy gose to the bottom of the lake because he see's something shiny, and when he get's to the bottom of the lake he find's a dirtbike laying there. He brings it up out of the lake he takes it home and ask his dad if he can keep it. His dad said, You can keep it only if you earn the money to buy the part's on your own. The boy get's a job working for a old man. You will have to read the story to find out if he get's the money to buy the part's he need's. 3. This book represen's suspense because I was wondering what that shiny thing was at the bottom of the lake, I was wondering if he will earn the money or not. Suspense means anxious feeling about what happens next.4. I recommend this book to any body who likes dirtbikes or any body that likes book's that have suspense in them.

The book, Dirt Bike Runaway was written by Matt Christopher. My favorite character was Peter because he was good at riding dirt bikes. Some other characters were Dexter Pasina, Jesse Kutter, and Peter's sister. They were the main characters. My favorite part was when, Peter and Dexter weren't friends until Dexter asked Peter to work for him. The job was to steal car parts. Peter said no and then they started to argue and that turned into them fighting. Dexter beat him up and knocked him out. Peters best friend was Giff, they were good friends. They rode motercrosses against Dexter. At the end of the story Dexter and Peter became good friends. To conclude, I think Dirt Bike Runaway was a good book.

The reason why I recommend this book is that if you have talents try to find a way to put it top good use. Another reason why I recommend this book is because it shows no matter how much you hate someone you should help them if they are injured or become injured. Also if you want something bad enough work for it you may get it. An excellent example of having a talent and using it is when peter fixes a bike that dose not even run. A good example of helping some that you hate that is in trouble and trying to help them is when Dex wipes out during a race, peter gives up the lead to help Dex to safety. If you want something bad enough work for it and you may get it. The example of this is when dex wiped out and peter helped him, peter finished the race ahead of dex, this is something peter wanted for a very long time.

This is a terrible book, even if you love motorcycles as I do. The writting is terrible with the authors favorite expression being "but this is not a story about.." I am not a great student or practioner of proper english grammar but the syntax, grammar, and, spelling in this book are atrocious. Words are misspelled or the wrong word is used, for example the author calls the herbicide from the VietNam war Asian Orange instead of Agent Orange. This is just one example of the writing in the book that made it impossible to read. I struggled through two chapters and had to throw the book away as unreadable. I fairness to the author, it may be the publishers fault for letting this completely unprofessional work reach the public.

The Author relayed his feelings about the stories in a way I could understand and felt as though he was talking to me. If you love dirtbikes or just reading about them,then this the book for you.Dirt Bike Runaway takes place in Florida where Peter Lewinski was in a bad foster home.So he ran away.Peter then meets a bully/thief named Dex Pasini.He doesn't like Dex and leaves him.Peter makes a new friend,Giff Mackenzie,in the same town.Giff rides dirt bikes in motocrosses.Peter helps fix Giff's dirt bike,and stays with him for a couple of weeks.While he stays,he rides in motocrosses with Giff and Giff'sister.Dex also rides in the motocrosses and starts causing trouble with Peter.I'd say that this is a great book.I'd rate it a 10 because it had me on the edge of my seat a lot.It was also very exciting and descriptive.Dirt Bike Runaway has a great and happy ending.

This was a very honest, written from the heart book. Sure there were syntax & grammar faults, but what the heck, the guy was trying to convey (successfully) the whole ethos of what riding is about : a guy, his bike, the struggles against the elements, and no less demanding, the struggles to hack your way through the stresses of life which can so easily conspire to knock you off your ride, literally & metaphorically.Overlook the mis-spells & what you have are streams of pure riding poetry. His chapter on the wind "blowing right into your heart & thru your soul" truly captures what compells us to keep riding. A great effort from an ordinary biker which I feel privileged to have read.

One day Ron and his friend Tony were out scuba diving and found a YZ80 (which is a dirt bike) at the bottom of the lake. The bike needs fixing up and that takes a lot of money. He gets a job with a rich man named Mr. Perkins and becomes very good friends with him. He fixes up the bike with his friends Mike and Tony. He believes that his dream of racing will finally come true. Little does he know that when he took the job that one person could threaten his dream?

I like how this books characters. I can visualize what the characters look like and act by the authors descriptions. Also the characters have there own personality traits that are very strongly written. Another thing I like about this book is the action scenes because they are very suspenseful and the author always keeps you thinking. When you think you know what is going to happen next in a race, he completely fools you with something else. One thing I don't like about this book is the language. I don't like it because he doesn't use the correct words for the races. He uses the word meet instead of moto.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sports and has an interest in dirt bike racing. Also to anyone who likes a lot of action and suspense. I t would be a good book for someone who isn't that good of a reader.

It's been some time since I last read this biography of Wayne Rainey, but I certainly remember the emotions, and especially the growing pride, I felt with each turned page. The writing was very easy to read, and the content flowed well from Wayne's childhood and foundation of a Champion in the making, through his personal relationships, and to the present (time of writing). I recommend this book to all that loved to watch his battles with Eddie Lawson, Kevin Schwantz, Freddie Spencer, and Mick Doohan, and wish to simply know more about the Champion. And I recommend it to anyone that thinks the world and life aren't fair. Perservere!

Have you ever heard of a dirtbike? Have you ever ridden a dirtbike? If you have then you know how much fun they can be. In the book Dirtbike Runaway by the popular fictional sports novelist Matt Christopher, a young boy named Peter gets to live his dreams of riding in a motocross event, makes some lifelong friends, and learns that you can trust no one.
Sixteen year old Peter is a foster child who doesn't like sports and doesn't trust anyone. But then a nice family, the Bentleys decides to adopt him. For six months he lives with them, they are the perfect family, or so it seems. After a while, the Bentleys start to work more and more, Peter is left to baby sit their eighteen year old son. The Bentleys son finds some alcohol and wants Peter to have some so Peter runs away. Peter hitchhikes to a nearby town where he stumbles upon a motocross track. There, he is framed and attacked by a bad kid named Dex. Later on Dex causes many problems in Peter's life.
It seems like all is lost until Peter meets Giff. Giff understands Peter's problems and becomes his friend. He gives Peter a chance to work on his dirtbike and Peter proves to be a natural. Giff even starts off Peter's motocross career by letting him ride in the motocross events held each Saturday. He even gives Peter somewhere to sleep, and maybe even a home, but you'll have to read the book to find out.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who likes books full of action and speed. At first I was hesitant to read books by a sports author because I don't like sports, but since I own a couple dirtbikes I decided that I'd give it a try. I made the right choice and I even think I might read another novel by a sports author.

I met wayne as a fan in 1987 at Road Atlanta when he rode for Honda after having read so many magazines about him.I never Heard of Kevin Schwantz until that weekend and Wayne despite being very busy, courteously found time to have Shay take a photo of both of us and give me an autograph.He was so receptive and pleasant.That weekend I watched in awe his amazing battle against Kevin's Suzuki and would never forget that day for the rest of my life.Then I continued to watch him on TV from 1988 to that fateful day.The book brought tears and lumps in my throat.This book tells it all and is a must buy.I am also a racer a know the will and the determination to win at all costs.This book also helps us analyze ourselves and our personal relationship with GOD.A precious collector's item to have.
